While fleas do lay eggs on your pet, it is common for the eggs to fall off of the animal and into the carpet, pet’s bedding, carpeting, beneath cushions on furniture, and any other areas your pet sleeps or has access. It is important to treat those areas by heavy vacuuming (seal and throw away bags) and washing bedding in hot water. Flea traps, sprays, and cedar chips (fleas hate the smell) are other options. If you do not treat your pet’s environment, you will miss more than 90% of the developing flea population (eggs, larvae and pupae).
